Choir Leavers ’24: Esme

It’s the end of term as we break up for summer (though there doesn’t seem to be any signs of summer yet!) and unfortunately, as always around this time of year, some members of the choir will be leaving us to embark on the next stage that is university, college, or starting their careers.

One such leaver is Esme, who is leaving to do a Masters degree. Esme has a few words to say about her 6 yeas (!) with the Fair City Singers…

“I’ve loved my time with the Fair City Singers. Making new incredible friends and sharing amazing experiences with them, like going on tour to Barcelona, has to be my highlight.”

“The choir has given me so many opportunities to grow in confidence, not only in my singing, but as a person. I was a very quiet and shy 11 year old when I joined, and I attribute me coming out of my shell to singing with the choir massively. I’m really going to miss going in for a couple hours weekly and forgetting about anything thats been worrying me, it was a great escape during my exams. “

“After the summer, I’ll be attending Dundee University to do my Masters in Primary Education, I can’t wait to start this new chapter in my life and explore my passion for teaching.”

Since I’m so close to home, I plan on coming back to the occasional rehearsal! The Fair City Singers is a group of wonderful, talented people and feels like a family.

“If you’re thinking about joining, I highly encourage you to! Aside from developing musical skills, you’ll grow in confidence massively and make lifelong friends.

Thank you again to Marjory and Stuart for everything. I’ve loved my six years with the choir.”
